Joy is also practice

Walk for the pleasure of weather on your face. Learn a song poorly and enjoy learning it. Cook something for someone who would welcome it. Notice the satisfaction of a clean tool, an unfinished drawing, a joke shared without cruelty, a body resting without justification. Pleasure is not a moral failure merely because it does not prove progress.

Consensual affection, sexuality, friendship, craftsmanship, and celebration belong within a life of care. Their spiritual question is not whether they look solemn, but whether they honor freedom, reciprocity, responsibility, and the lives involved. A community that only knows how to grieve has not yet learned how to receive.
