The Four Laws Compass · two minutes

Disagree without losing the person

You can challenge an idea while leaving room for a human being.

Try this now

  1. State the other person’s view in words they might recognize. If you cannot, ask one sincere question before arguing.
  2. Say where you disagree, and distinguish your evidence from your interpretation. Do not invent certainty to win.
  3. Choose whether this conversation can continue usefully. A respectful pause is allowed, and harmful conduct still needs a boundary.

A question to carry: What would you be willing to correct in your own account?

How the Four Laws work together

Love More does not require agreement. Truth and Compassion hold correction together; Tolerance permits difference. Live Free protects conscience, Fear Less supports honesty, and Harm None rules out humiliation.
